Penetration Testing Services

A penetration test shows how an attacker could actually get in and what they could reach. We test the way a threat actor would, then give you findings ranked by what to fix first.

The types of testing we offer

Internal and external network testing

External testing attacks your internet-facing systems from the outside. Internal testing shows what an attacker, or a malicious insider, could reach once they are on your network.

PCI DSS 11.4 penetration testing

External, internal and segmentation testing aligned to requirement 11.4 of PCI DSS v4.0.1, reported in a form your assessor can use.

Web application and API testing

Authentication, access control, input handling and business logic in the applications and APIs your customers and staff rely on.

Cloud, Microsoft 365 and red team

Identity, configuration and access weaknesses in cloud and Microsoft 365 tenants, plus goal-based red team exercises that test whether you would notice an intruder.

Internal and external network testing

  • External. We enumerate what the internet can see of your organization, look for exposed services, weak authentication and unpatched systems, and try to turn them into a way in.
  • Internal. Starting from a typical user connection, we test how far an attacker could move: weak credentials, excessive privileges, insecure services and paths to your most sensitive systems.
  • Why both. Perimeter testing tells you whether someone can get in. Internal testing tells you what happens next.

How an engagement works

  1. Scoping. We agree what is tested, why, and what a good outcome looks like.
  2. Rules of engagement. Targets, timing, contacts and off-limits systems are agreed and authorized in writing before any testing starts.
  3. Testing. Reconnaissance, vulnerability discovery and controlled exploitation, with a named contact on your side for anything urgent.
  4. Report. An executive summary for leadership and technical detail with evidence for your team.
  5. Retest. After you fix issues, we check that the fixes hold.

Methodology and standards

We plan and run engagements using recognized references: the Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES) and NIST SP 800-115 for process, the OWASP Top 10 and OWASP Application Security Verification Standard for applications, and PCI DSS v4.0.1 requirement 11.4 where payment card testing applies. Standards guide coverage. Skilled analysts do the testing by hand, because that is how chained weaknesses are found.

What you receive

  • Executive summary for leadership
  • Technical report with evidence and reproduction steps for each finding
  • Findings prioritized by risk and effort
  • Remediation guidance your team can act on
  • Retest results once fixes are in place

Our team has delivered hundreds of assessments, has worked with large enterprises including Fortune 50 organizations, and has experience with HIPAA, FISMA and ISO frameworks and with nation-state and APT-level threat actors. Core-Infosec provides penetration testing and PCI readiness support. We do not perform PCI validation assessments.
